We're Looking for People to Share Community Stories
Smartphone Storytelling: Intro to Journalism and Storytelling
Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. May 30th - June 20th
Most people carry an entire production studio in their pockets. We've developed a two-part program to help build a network of community reporters to help share the stories of the people around you. We're looking for people interested in everything from sports to gardening, cooking to animal rescues, overlooked issues to hot-takes on common topics. Learn how to use a smartphone to produce, shoot, and edit a three to five-minute story for air. Public Media Network will have kits available to supplement your phone including Bluetooth microphones. We'll even have iPhones that can be checked out for anyone that needs one.
Please bring an idea for a three-to-five-minute story to the first evening of class. Ideas include interviewing a friend or family member about one of their interests; an introduction to a group of hobbyists (e.g., knitting, board games, woodworking, etc.), a feature about your favorite spot in town (e.g., walking trail, park, coffee shop, etc.). Editing will be done on Davinci Resolve, an advanced yet easy to get into application available for free online.
This training will open the doors for you to produce your own videos at PMN with the ease and comfort of a mobile phone.
