Meet the Media Makers

Media Maker, "Evil Dragon Theatre" & "Captain Wallace Live!"

Bringing a passion for art and media together to entertain all ages.

I came into PMN with the idea to get my product out and give it a voice in the Kalamazoo community. I first started by producing projects on YouTube and Facebook nearly 15 years ago. It’s wonderful to have a venue to express creativity.

One day, a pirate sauntered into Public Media Network decked in elaborately designed doublet (pirate coat), flowing white ruffled shirt, leather boots, sword, and a signature eye patch. A hearty, “Hello” and chilling pirate laugh completed his persona. Today, Daniel Monroe AKA Captain Wallace, has been a co-host for the 2019 Holiday Parade and has served as a producer of his own shows Evil Dragon Theatre and a kid’s show, Captain Wallace Live!

Monroe came to PMN to bring his passion for media and art together to entertain all ages. The native of Kalamazoo has been a professional artist since age 9 when he sold his first pastel portrait to a church member. The former art instructor at Western Michigan University has had his illustrations featured in more than 25 books, including those written by famous athletes and entertainers such as Dennis Rodman, Erika Eleniak, and Heavyweight Boxing Champion Deontay Wilder.

While his art has been highlighted in galleries throughout the United States, he credits the staff of PMN and their professionalism as both instructors and supporters of community producers.
