On Monday July 25, the Kalamazoo Township Board of Trustees met and approved new rifle rated, armor-plated vests for the Kalamazoo Township Police Department.
The Board of Trustees approved $36,680 from the police capital fund to fund the vests. The previous vests have a warranty of 5 years and are expired. The new vests have a warranty of 15 years.
“We think that although they are a little bit more expensive than the current vests that we have, they are going to be utilized more and because of the longer warranty life they are a much better investment for the township.” said Police Chief Bryan Ergang.
The Board also approved a permit for AT&T to install fiber optic cable underground along Drake Road.
The meeting ended with the trustees in closed session to discuss a legal memorandum.
