UIA, Michigan Works! Urge Residents to Avoid Offices and Use Online Resources

Eligible employees should apply for unemployment benefits at  or by calling 1-866-500-0017. A factsheet on how to apply for benefits can also be found here.

Food Access for School Kids

Kalamazoo Public Schools

Offering pick up meals at 20 sites (list below). On Mondays and Wednesdays, breakfast and lunch for two days is distributed. On Fridays, breakfast and lunch is offered for three days.

Food Distribution Sites and Times:(Monday, Wednesday and Friday)

  • 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at all Kalamazoo Public Schools school buildings except Greenwood, Indian Prairie and Winchell elementary schools, the Alternative Learning Program/ALP, and South Westnedge School.
  • 11:30 a.m.-Noon -Interfaith, 1037 Interfaith Blvd.
  • 11:30 a.m.-Noon – Eastside Neighborhood Association, 1301 E. Main St. 
  • 12:30-1 p.m. - Fox Ridge Apartments, 1320 Fox Ridge Dr.
  • 12:30- 1 p.m. New Village Park, 2500 St. Albans Way

Portage Public Schools

  • Milham Meadows at the Laundry/Playground Pavilion from Noon to 1:00 PM.
  • PCEC Parking Lot, 1010 W. Milham Ave. from Noon to 1:00 PM.
  • Mobile route with a Portage Public Schools bus, starting in the Roanoke neighborhood. There will be 2 stops starting at 11:45 AM for 15 minutes each.
  • The bus will then move to the eastern end of the State streets. Watch for the PPS bus in the area around 12:20 PM.
  • A Portage Public School van will visit the Palm and Peachtree Street neighborhood starting at 11:45 AM and will make approximately 4 to 5 stops. Watch for the silver PPS van.
  • Another mobile route is scheduled for the Newells Lane area. Watch for a PPS van starting at 11:45 AM. Anticipate 5 or 6 stops at 15 minutes each.
