Production Grant Program

PMN Production Grant Program

Public Media Network offers matching and full in-kind media production grants to nonprofit organizations serving the Greater Kalamazoo area.  This in-kind grant program helps to expand communication efforts for nonprofit organizations through video.  Our goal is to make media accessible to as many nonprofit organizations as possible, and we make every effort to provide as many in-kind matching grants as possible.

The Media Production Grant program covers all media production services provided by Public Media Network to nonprofit organizations:

  • Event Coverage
  • Profile Videos or Short Promotional Videos
  • Studio Talk Shows
  • Public Service Announcements
  • Media Distribution on PMN Platforms

Media produced, as part of this grant program, must be non-commercial, licensed under Creative Commons, and made available through PMN media distribution platforms.

Full-grant:  A full grant provides media production services, performed by Public Media Network, at no cost to the organization for the scope of services requested.

Matching Grant:  A matching grant provides a portion of the value of the media production services at no cost to the organization for the scope of services requested. The organization must be able to contribute a payment equal to the value of the match provided by Public Media Network.

The Media Production Grant program is offered three times a year.  No cash is awarded as part of the grant program, or pay for services outside of PMN’s standard range of services.

The Media Production grant program is available to PMN Production Partner organizations that contribute to the greater good, including government agencies, 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations, social enterprises, education, faith-based, and other “mission-focused” organizations including those who have not yet received 501(c)3 nonprofit status. Priority will be given to projects that help to change the local narrative, empower diverse voices, build cultural understanding, or increase civic dialogue.

Timeframe:  PMN allows for up to 6 months from start to completion for the scope of work covered by the grant.  We work with each organization to develop a mutually acceptable timeframe for the work.  Event coverage requests should be made 3-6 months in advance of the event.

Use of a media production grant may require sponsorship levels for Public Media Network, and other forms of acknowledgement.
