Public Media Network is calling all animators for an exclusive hands-on Storyboarding Workshop with professional animator Patrick Stennard.
The Kalamazoo native will return to his roots to inspire those of all ages to take their love for animation to a new level.
During a two-hour workshop, Stennard will show participants how to take a script and make it into a storyboard. During the workshop he also will share of his experiences in the animation industry and how the steps to making it into a career.
“Animators who are serious, can use their talents for everything from graphic novels to motion pictures,” said Stennard. “I will share what the industry is looking for and how to prepare for a career.”
The Storyboarding Workshop will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, March 23rd at Public Media Network, 359 S. Kalamazoo Mall (3rd floor of the Epic Center). Fee to attend is $10 and includes materials needed to complete the hands-on project.
Patrick’s visit is part of a collaborative “Animotion” series. In addition to his hands-on workshop, he will meet with students at the Kalamazoo Valley Community College’s Center for New Media, where he was among the first graduating class. He also will inspire students of Parchment High School and K-RESA’s Education for the Arts program. A visit to Kalamazoo Institute of Arts will allow him to share of his talents with the public.
Patrick is an animation and storyboard artist for Powerhouse Animation in Austin, Texas, where he is responsible for dozens of animation projects for commercials, video games, film, television, and more. His latest work on Netflix’s Castlevania series has led to more high-profile projects.
