Looking Forward: 2016/2017

With the PMN Board of Director’s approving our operating and capital budgets for Fiscal Year 2016 – 2017, we now have a plan for some really cool things to happen at PMN. Here are just a couple of them:

• PMN has already purchased a new Ford Transit 250 cargo van that will have a custom interior installed to support live and recorded multi-camera remote production. Once the interior is completed, PMN will coordinate the installation of the various production components, including a top-of-the-line TriCaster integrated production system. The production van will also feature “live from anywhere” capability allowing us to move beyond being live only from our current fiber optic connection points. The van is expected to become operational sometime in the Fall of 2016.

• PMN will work with Secant Technologies to upgrade the “live streaming” feature of our annual USTA Boys 18 & 16 National Tennis Championships coverage. While PMN will continue to televise and stream full multi-camera coverage with announcers of selected matches at the Stowe Stadium tennis complex, the plan is to also provide static camera streamed of Stowe Stadium Courts 1, 2, and 3 to the USTA Boys website. PMN has appreciated the support of Secant Technologies in launching the original USTA Boys video stream feature, and we’re excited to take this coverage further.

• In the Spring of 2017, PMN plans to use the completed production van to support of Borgess Run/Kalamazoo Marathon coverage. The 2016 event was our first ever attempt at covering the Marathon live, and the feedback was totally supportive. We learned a lot, and the new van will make the production logistics SOOOOOO much easier to manage.

• Community producers will be encouraged to develop their chroma-key capabilities using either Studio 1 or Studio 2. Both studios will feature a renovated chroma-key wall and we will add chroma-key friendly flooring to allow for expanded use of virtual sets in the Tri-Caster systems.

With both veteran and new producers getting more active at PMN, we’re looking forward to a great, productive, and interesting year!

Best wishes –
