Interns are committed to working a minimum of 16 weeks (4 months) for a minimum of 9 hours per week.
Training: Interns will be trained by PMN to produce programs that will be cablecast to the Greater Kalamazoo Community. This training may consist of camera work, the basics of analog editing, non-linear editing, lighting, audio production, technical directing, the basics of directing, tracking tape inventory, playing tape back over the cable television system, preproduction techniques for television, set/operation of remote or studio equipment, and other duties as outlined in the Internship Description as issued. Instruction will come in the form of regular workshops scheduled, one-on-one instruction from PMN staff and on-the-job training during other video productions.
Requirements: Interns will be required to produce one PMN “promotional spot” (1:00 to 5:00 in length). Interns will also produce at least one program (minimum 20 minutes) to be cablecast that features an area non-profit organization as assigned by PMN. It is understood that the completion of these projects is required to complete the internship. All projects must be completed within one month of final work date.
Upon Successful Completion: During the internship, an Intern will have the opportunity to receive certification on PMN’s equipment and facilities. After receiving certification, the equipment and facilities are available to Interns during PMN’s normal hours of operation and may be used at no charge. Also, upon successful completion of all requirements, Interns will be eligible to receive a stipend in the amount of $250. Certification includes, but is not limited to, the Main Studio, Instant Studio, Tape to Tape Suites, Final Cut, Mini-Switcher, DV Camcorders, and remote production equipment.
