Are you interested in Geology? Ever wondered what your neighborhood looks like underground? Well, the Michigan Geological Survey has you covered. They are mapping underground bedrock valleys in Portage this fall, with the help of a new instrument from Western Michigan University that takes Seismic readings. The instrument will help to find sediment deposits, which usually give way to groundwater. Groundwater is the source for 60% of all of Michigan’s freshwater.
