Kalamazoo Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Rice recently presented his state of the schools’ address titled “Building Children’s Promise 2017.” We sat down with him to discuss details on district plans to boost student academic growth.
Dr. Rice started off by telling us that students should be given what they need. If a student is behind in school, then instruction needs to be altered or modified in a way that is relevant to them, based on their needs and challenges. By turning challenges into strengths, students are much more likely to improve their abilities and catch up faster. Not only do students have to be on board and enthusiastic about education, but so do parents, family members, and instructors!
