KPEP recently held a grand opening for their new coffee shop, Walnut & Park. KPEP is a residential program for people on probation and parole.
William DeBoer, President/CEO of KPEP, says, “The goal is to take people who might otherwise be going to prison and help them stay out of prison, or people who are in prison help them integrate back into the community.”
By working at the coffee shop, and participating in the program provided by KPEP, employees can practice their people skills, teamwork, how to deal with cultural and communicational barriers, and gain experience that could potentially help them get another job in the future. So next time you’re thinking about grabbing a cup of coffee, consider heading to Walnut & Park!
